As we know that high fine dust content on abrasive grains causes problems with silo fillings, mixture dosing and wetting ratios in mixtures.
Nephelometer measures turbidity - cloudiness or haziness of a fluid caused by individual particles (suspended solids). Instead of total dust content, we rather measure amount of fine unbound particles larger than 1 nm.
Turbidity measurement is based on observation of light scattering through the sample and comparison with standard suspension with known turbidity.
